How do we fix the child care shortage in the US? One answer could be to look to the half of the population that currently isn’t very involved in the industry, Rachel Cohen Booth reports.
Currently, only 3 percent of preschool employees and 6 percent of child care workers in the US are men — but some advocates are starting to push for a stronger pipeline to bring men into the industry.
As part of her reporting, Rachel visited a child care center in northern Virginia that is making an effort to recruit men into child care. Her story offers a compelling look at why those efforts matter and the possibilities they offer. This kind of work is made possible by our Vox Members.
