Welcome to The Logoff: Hi readers, the newsletter is logging off today with just a brief note. 

As always, there’s a lot going on: The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's new director, Susan Monarez, was ousted from her job, mere weeks after being confirmed for the role. The Trump administration is also suspending Federal Emergency Management Agency employees, and new US tariffs on India are taking effect. 

All three are important stories that The Logoff will continue to watch, and when you need to know more about them, we’ll be in your inbox with coverage. But we also want to be respectful of your time and the newsletter’s core promise, which is to only come to you with the stories about the Trump administration you absolutely need to know about. I loved this new piece from my colleague Allie Volpe about why productivity “hacks” often don’t work as advertised — and what actually does work instead. As Allie writes, we all have a limited reserve of attention; if you’re feeling overwhelmed, the best solution isn’t to offload that stress into another calendar or productivity app but to give your brain a break instead. That includes trying to protect your leisure time as much as possible, which is a Logoff-approved message if I’ve ever heard one.
