■ In this week's AI Lab:A quick dispatch from WIRED’s AI Power Summit. Also: Stunning new 3D images made with AI, the economic risks posed by agents, and a modest first paper from Meta’s Superintelligence Labs.
Hi everyone, AI Lab is taking a break of sorts this week. I attended the WIRED AI Power Summit in New York—a fascinating event where politicians, tech executives, and media luminaries came together to discuss the rising power and influence of artificial intelligence. A major theme of the conference was how publishers can make use of generative AI while also pushing back on the AI industry for gobbling up articles as training data.
I’m also taking some time this week to dive deeper into some remarkable developments in the world of AI. Stay tuned for more on that in coming weeks ...
Subscribe today to continue receiving my full newsletter each week. I've been writing about AI and related themes for over a decade (since neural networks were considered a dead end, in fact). I'm fascinated by how innovation occurs and how it affects the economy. And I want to understand the global picture, rather than just the world as viewed through the lens of Silicon Valley.
So, if you're keen to keep track of advances from the world of computing—AI, robotics, quantum, chipmaking, and more—that have the potential to transform the way we live ... this is the newsletter you for you.
