Amazon’s trial: The US Federal Trade Commission opened its trial against Amazon, accusing the e-commerce giant of duping customers into signing up for the Prime subscription service and making it too difficult to cancel. Boeing’s technology: The aircraft maker will partner with Palantir to integrate artificial intelligence with current and future defense programs and in its factories. Alibaba’s big day: Like Oracle, China’s Alibaba plans to lift its spending on AI infrastructure, with CEO Eddie Wu saying the industry’s growth and demand are accelerating past all its earlier forecasts. His comments at a developer conference on Wednesday pushed the company’s stock to its highest level since 2021. | |

For a few dozen top AI startups, the fundraising script has flipped: Instead of pitching venture capitalists up and down Silicon Valley’s Sand Hill Road, VCs are courting them with gifts and favors in the hopes of leading a fundraising round even before it has officially begun.
