While fall weather hasn’t fully kicked in here, I was still craving a seasonal read, so I decided to finally pick up Elatsoe
by Darcie Little Badger, which has been on my TBR since it came out in 2023. This is a young adult novel that’s part fantasy, part mystery, and part horror genre. I wasn’t immediately hooked (the voice feels even younger than I expected), but I decided to give it a few chapters, because I’ve heard only good things about it. I’m glad I did, because I ended up really enjoying it—especially in how it subverts common YA horror pitfalls.
