After two years of work, my new book is out today. Ensorcelled is a coming-of-age adventure about a boy who goes on a camping trip that changes his life, opens his mind, and rewilds his attention. This story was new territory for me and I had to brave many forking paths and dead ends before finding my way to the heart of it, but, in the words of the protagonist, “the only voyages worth embarking on are those that venture into the unknown.” Having returned from the aforementioned voyage with this singular little book clutched in my hands, I am happy to report that Ensorcelled is the best thing I’ve written. If you’re new to my writing, start here. If you’re a longtime reader, get ready for a journey you won’t soon forget. I can’t wait to hear what you think. You can buy it now in beautifully designed paperback and Kindle formats. The audiobook (narrated by me!) will go live shortly. If you want a signed copy, you can order one directly from me and I will personally sign and send it to you. Tam can’t wait to play Ark of the Shadow Moon, the hotly anticipated new game from Clandestine Studios. But when his parents force him to go on a camping trip, he discovers that the mountains wield their own magic, and that while magic offers you everything, it asks everything of you in return. At just 90 pages, Ensorcelled is a one-sitting read that will suck you in, make you think, and leave you changed. Authors write books, but readers determine their commercial and cultural impact. Launch day is the pivotal handoff. I may have written Ensorcelled, but its fate now lies in your eminently capable hands. If you’d like to help give this little book a boost out of the gate, here are three things you can do that make a surprisingly big difference:
Thank you for being the best readers a writer could hope for. Eliot P.S. If you’re curious about the story behind Ensorcelled, Michael Cruickshank will be hosting me for a special Interintellect salon to discuss the book at 10AM PDT on Saturday, October 18th. The format is an intimate group video call where we can go deep on creative process, plot, characters, independent publishing, and whatever questions Ensorcelled inspires. Tickets are $5.
