Every so often I'm reminded just how much the self-hosted community relies on the very platforms we're trying to escape (Discord, Cloudflare, etc.). This week, GitHub stole the spotlight with their announcement that feature work will be paused (well, kind of) as the company migrates their infrastructure to Azure. (If you haven't already guessed, it's driven by AI-induced resource constraints.) And while I recognize the difficulty self-hosting infrastructure and development pipelines might pose for some projects, I'm still hopeful events like this will at least prompt some to consider a transition to non-profits like Codeberg instead. (Either way, I'm not judging.) There was a flurry of other interesting activity and buzz this week that more than one of you will be impacted by: And lastly, please drop in and complete my annual user survey if you haven't already: Happy selfh.st/ing!
