Meta buys Manus: The Facebook parent continued its AI spending spree by acquiring Manus, a Singapore-based startup that captured the attention of investors in March when it released an AI agent that could complete basic tasks.

AI gadgets: Sony, Samsung and Lenovo are among the companies that will be promotingartificial intelligence-infused devices at CES, the annual consumer technology conference, which begins next week in Las Vegas. 

Pivotal IBM leader: Louis Gerstner, credited with revitalizing IBM in the 1990s, died Saturday at 83. During nine years as chief executive officer and chairman, Gerstner pivoted IBM toward business services and away from hardware production, dumped unpopular products and broke down fiefdoms within the huge organization.
