Aftermath's first birthday sale!

Aftermath <inbox@aftermath.site>

November 11, 1:57 pm

It’s Aftermath’s first birthday! We have a bunch of good blogs planned, but we also wanted to let you know about our first-ever birthday sale!

From today through November 29, new subscribers can get their first month of Aftermath’s Reader tier for only $1. The Reader tier lets you read all of our articles, and also gives you access to bonus episodes of our podcast 52 Pickup, where Gita Jackson and Alex Jaffe take you through the world of DC comics. It’s our most popular tier, and we think it’s a great way to learn more about what we do.

(If you aren't seeing the offer right away, be sure to click the toggle to see our monthly subscriptions.)

If you’ve been a free subscriber for a while, you know that we started this site a year ago to write the kinds of stories we love to tell, and the kinds of stories that our years on the internet have told us you love to read. Stories written for humans rather than SEO. Stories that highlight the voices of developers, players, and workers instead of PR and CEOs. Stories about games beyond the latest AAA release, and even beyond games themselves–stories about technology, music, movies, books, animation, TV, streaming, food, journalism, capitalism, politics, and more. (Go ahead and click those links; they’re all paywall-free!)

Aftermath is entirely reader-funded, which means we need you and–let’s be honest–your money to keep this thing going. We’re part of a growing movement of independent, worker-owned publications that’s charting a new future for journalism and the internet, finding ways to thrive despite layoffs, site closures, private equity takeovers, and AI slop. But to create that future, both for ourselves and readers like you, we need your support.

We hope our birthday sale will encourage you to become a long-time subscriber, but we also know times are tough, and we’re happy to give you a more affordable way to check out Aftermath for a bit. We’re so excited for our second year, and we hope you’ll join us.

Thanks,

The Aftermath team– Riley, Gita, Chris, Luke and Nathan
