I didn’t want to write this email. But Trump won and we now have to deal with this. Unfortunately, it is not too soon to tell what will happen once Trump has been sworn in. We have seen him as President before and this time he and his goons are probably more and better prepared. Also, his victory was substantial and he can create a lot more harm than before. I am sure he will try to get rid off as many checks and balances as he can, starting by the judiciary system that he, a convicted felon, so despises. I feel bad for my American family and friends, who now have to deal with this menace. Trump wants to establish a fascist regime, it is all laid out in his Project 2025. My hope is that the democratic institutions are stronger than he thinks and can withstand him and his MAGA idiots long enough. My hope is also that the civil society does what it can to withstand the evil and cruel forces. I love the United States and I believe in the powers of good always being stronger than the powers of evil. And I know that the overwhelming majority of Americans are hardworking and decent people. It just doesn’t look good right now. But there will always be light after darkness. Or as we say in German: alles hat ein Ende, nur die Wurst hat zwei! - everything has an end, only the sausage has two! Hopefully the MAGA times will be over soon!
