Queer Trivia
She's an English model and activist.
She was born on 11 September 1987 and raised in Stansted Mountfitchet, Essex. Of mixed heritage, she is the daughter of a Jamaican father and an English mother. Reflecting on her early years, she has described herself as a "very effeminate boy." She later studied English at the University of Brighton, where she identified as genderqueer.
After graduating, she spent three years working in fashion PR. At 24, she began her gender transition and was later featured in an episode of the London Live series Drag Queens of London. Around the time she began her transition, she co-founded the nightclub Pussy Palace.
Motivated by the lack of diversity in the fashion industry, she entered the world of modeling, landing her first job with a Lebanese couture label. In 2014, the London Evening Standard described her as "a cornerstone of London's trans scene." In the interview, she explained that her outspoken advocacy on trans issues stems from her belief that it represents "the new frontier"—a movement gaining visibility thanks to the work of trans women like Laverne Cox and Carmen Carrera.
A documentary about her will be out later this year, and she said, “It was a nerve-wracking experience to let Olivia Cappuccini into my world for the past few years but I’m so glad I did. She has so elegantly and sensitively captured my journey and how it has shaped me into the person I’ve become today.
“I hope this documentary will provide inspiration and empowerment to people in similar situations to me and help educate those who aren’t aware of the issues that the transgender community continue to face every day.”
