AI servers: Dell reported results showing that booming demand continues for AI tools. The company received $12.1 billion in orders for its powerful AI servers in the quarter — topping the value of all the machines shipped in the entire previous fiscal year. AI defense tech: Meta Platforms is teaming up with defense contractor Anduril Industries to develop new products for the US military, including an AI-powered helmet with virtual and augmented reality features. AI licensing: The New York Times will license its editorial content to Amazon to help train the e-commerce company’s AI platform. Clickhouse, a database technology startup, has nearly tripled its valuation to $6.35 billion in a new funding round that raised $350 million. The startup’s data platform helps companies build and run AI tools, in addition to other day-to-day tasks, in a growing competition with rivals including Snowflake and Databricks. | |

Nvidia Chief Executive Officer Jensen Huang and his Chief Financial Officer Colette Kress didn’t sugarcoat the hit the chipmaker took last quarter because it couldn’t sell its most-advanced chips to China, Ian King reports in today’s Tech In Depth. The comments Wednesday, when the chipmaker reported results, are part of the company’s efforts to persuade the Trump administration that restrictions on chip exports are hurting Nvidia and the wider US technology industry, King writes.
