Author Name Scramble

For this game, we'll scramble a sapphic author's name, allowing you to work it out. In Monday's newsletter, we'll share the answer along with a new author name scramble.

All of the letters for the author's first and last name are below, but we don't guarantee that the letters are in the correct part of the name or that the first and last names have the same number of letters as the scramble.

Friday's scramble was: Conrad Lakeside -- the answer is Addison Clarke

Here's today's scramble:

Brohan Lemony

Remember, the answer will be revealed in Monday's newsletter. Hint: the name is mentioned in today's post.

Queer Trivia

She's an American singer, comedian, and internet personality.

Born in 1996, she grew up in Seattle, Washington. When she was in the fifth grade, she started writing songs. In high school, she put out three demo EPs.

She gained fame after her comedic Vine videos went viral, showcasing her wit and humor while addressing various social issues. Her popularity grew as she transitioned to platforms like Twitter and YouTube, where she shared both her music and comedic content.

Her musical style can be described as a fusion of indie pop and alternative. It’s further characterized by her soulful voice and introspective lyrics. Her 2018 EP, “Transgender Street Legend, Vol. 1,” showcases her unique writing and storytelling abilities. On this album, she tackles themes such as mental health, love, and her experiences as a transgender lesbian woman.

As a transgender lesbian artist, she has faced numerous challenges in the music and comedy industries. These are often dominated by cisgender and heterosexual narratives. Despite these obstacles, she has persisted in carving out her own space in the industry.

Her open and honest exploration of her identity in her work resonates with many who struggle to find representation in mainstream media. By embracing her authentic self and sharing her experiences, she has helped create a more inclusive environment for LGBTQ artists and fans alike.

She attributes her autism to explain why she excels at impressions, saying “I’m used to mimicking others in order to seem neurotypical and I’ve gotten really adept at observing things like speech patterns”.

Do you know her name? The answer is at the bottom of the email.

Patreon Author of the Week

Jae is back today for an entertaining interview. Find out her favorite ice cream flavor and other fun tidbits.

We also reveal the lie from Monday's post and the winner of the Enemies by Nature giveaway.

In case you missed the 3 Truths and a Lie, here they are:

1. I once called my former boss at 6 am because I was convinced the door lock wasn’t working—turns out I had forgotten the door code had been changed.

2. In my early 20s, I fell off a table while drunk and broke my wrist.

3. I frequently get lost—even in my own neighborhood or in a restaurant, on the way back from the restroom.

4. I once couldn’t remember the English word for silk stockings and called them “lady socks” instead.

Find out the lie by visiting Jae's interview right here.

Guess the Author Reveal

Every week we provide five clues about a sapphic author and on Saturday we unveil the author.

In case you missed them in the posts this week, here are all five clues:

1. I’m hopeless at social media. In my magical kingdom, I’d be the confused peasant standing in the corner holding a pigeon and asking where to post it. I thought “engagement” meant getting married, hashtags were spells, and Tik Tok was a clock. And hey—if you do stumble across me online, be kind. I’m still trying to figure out how to get a newsletter up and running.

2. I prefer shadows to spotlights. I’ve a Master’s in Creative Writing, and I’m an artist among other things. I’ve now turned to crafting twisty, magical novels full of secrets, power plays, and the occasional cursed object. My identity: classified. But the stories? Unforgettable.

3. How I Write Novels (Or: Chaos, Coffee & Strange Choices):
Step one: Get a brilliant idea.
Step two: Scrap it and start again.
Step three: Write three chapters then stare into space.
Step four: Bribe myself with chocolates until the plot thickens.
Step five: Rewrite half the book because I had a brilliant idea at 3am, and made a minor
character the main villain now.
Some days I’m structured. Most days it’s writing by the seat of my pants. But eventually, through caffeine, wild scribbles, and whisper-arguing with imaginary people, a book emerges. Somehow.

4. I took up this genre, because I had this itch to write about powerful women. I wanted an excuse to write dramatic magical showdowns, emotionally constipated heroines, and ancient palaces with way too many secrets. It was either that or take up gardening. I chose violence!

5. Something I Had to Look Up While Writing my Books: “How long does it take to bleed out from a magically-inflicted chest wound?” Followed closely by: “Do serpents technically hiss in a way that can form words?” and “What’s the correct order of royalty when everyone’s also magical?” My search history is now 90% how to build a world from scratch, 5% moon phases, and 5% panicked spelling checks for made-up words I invented at 1 a.m. The real magic? Remembering what I named a tavern on page 4 by the time I got to page 200.
